While the articles are all strongly opposed to the Atomic bomb and make persuasive arguments it is important to keep in mind that the articles were all written by non-western people often whose countries do not have the ability to produce or fund such scientific and expensive warfare. President Trueman did not authorize the dropping of this bomb with no support, many backed his stance and wanted to end the war before more people got hurt. People from countries with active bombs ready are a majority "western" in nature so of course those who can not produce the bombs will be strongly opposed to them aka Japan at the time of the bombing. While the means of getting Japan out of the war were seen as cruel and brutal their attack on Pearl Harbor without a declaration of war was seen as one of the more tragic days in U.S. history. Whose to say Japan wouldn't launch more brutal attacks on U.S. soil if the bombings didn't occur? Japan staying in the war means a great deal more of violence and killing of U.S. soldiers. While horrid in nature the bombing certainly accomplished its goal quickly and efficiently. "War is Hell" in the end of the day it is us against them and we will do what it takes to keep more of us safe.
